Wine Description
The third vintage using all estate Tempranillo fruit from Vidon Vineyard is one of only a few cool-climate Tempranillos in Willamette Valley. It was a smash beginning with fermentation. I remember that the tanks had the familiar scent of meat cooking over a grill. It was aged in mostly neutral oak to create a pure expression of the Tempranillo grape.
Tasting Notes
One of only a few cool-climate estate Tempranillos in the Chehalem Mountains, the Explorer Tempranillo is a bold, blockbuster big red filled with cigar, pepper, and the tannins of grilling meat. The ideal wine for a cozy evening by the fire or a festive gathering at a tapas restaurant. Perfectly paired from sweet to savory, a few of our favorite combinations are dark chocolate blueberry tarts and fresh-cracked black pepper steak.
