Wine Description
Yet another hot growing season. There were many more warm nights that year, as witnessed by the low malic acid levels at harvest. These conditions tend to produce wines on the fruit-forward end of the spectrum. Entirely sourced from our orginal vines planted in 2000.
Tasting Notes
Befitting a hot vintage, the Hans clone is the most opulent single clone from 2018. Its deeper hue suggests greater weight. The nose is redolent of baking spices, incorporating vanilla, nutmeg, and perhaps a bit of rhubarb. The palate is warm and spicy with plenty of red fruit and cherry high notes. The Hans is the most full bodied of the single clones with good tension and building tannins on the finish.
