Wine Description
The very first vintage of Dick's 95 clone Pinot noir from the vineyard. Legend has it that the clone is of a suitcase variety and smuggled in either by or for Dick Erath from the Grand Cru Clos Vougeot vineyard in Burgundy France. We were lucky to receive some cuttings from Dick after the varietal's long and arduous journey through the UC Davis program to ensure the plants were free of disease. True story or not, Dick's 95 has the structure and complexity to make one heck of a wine!
Tasting Notes
A Pinot noir with inviting aromas of Bing cherries, violets, cherry pits, and hints of forest floor. On the palate, the wine offers juicy, bright fruit flavors that are well balanced by a refreshing acidity. The finish leaves behind a lingering dustiness of dry cherry and plum.
