The land
Nestled in the heart of the Chehalem Mountains AVA, our vineyard is shaped by the unique landscape of Newberg. The diversity of soils and the interplay of varying climates create an ideal environment for a wide range of grape varietals. These factors allow us to produce wines that are nuanced, complex, and expressive of the land itself. At Compris, we are dedicated to sustainable farming practices that nurture both the land and the community.
Varietals
Our estate vineyard is home to an exciting array of varietals, each carefully selected to thrive in our distinctive terroir. We cultivate Chardonnay, Viognier, and Pinot Noir, including 95 Clone, Pommard, and Dijon Clones 115, 777, and 667. Thanks to the warmth of our estate, we are among the few Willamette Valley vineyards fortunate enough to grow Tempranillo and Syrah, producing wines with bold character and depth.
In recent years, we replanted portions of the vineyard with Gamay and Cabernet Franc, continuing our dedication to producing wines that honor the land's heritage and potential. These varietals reflect our commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and the enduring legacy of our estate.
Sustainability
We are committed to preserving the environment and fostering biodiversity. Our vineyard and winery are certified by LIVE Certified, an organization that promotes sustainable practices in viticulture, and Salmon-Safe, which works to protect and restore salmon habitats in Oregon's waterways. By maintaining these certifications, we ensure that our land continues to thrive for future generations while producing wines of the highest quality.
At Compris, we embrace the role of stewards of the land, and we invite you to experience our wines, crafted with care by our passionate team, as a way to connect with the natural world around us.
