Green clusters of Pinot noir grapes at Compris Vineyard near Newberg, Oregon.

Dear Compris Family and Friends,

We hope this finds you well and in the midst of a wonderful summer! July was a good month for the vineyard, as the grape clusters fully formed into green bunches. We had many days of hot weather over ninety degrees, even several above one hundred, which did not harm the vines at that stage in their growth, but did cause them to stop progressing. The end of the month brought a bit of cooler weather, even a smattering of rain, so everything is back on track.

The majority of the 2023 vintage found its way into bottle in the middle of the month, and we are excited for it! Last year was a great growing season and we look forward to sharing it with you once it's ready. Our focus is now fully turned towards this year's harvest, which will be here before we know it.

We gathered with our club family in Hillsboro for an evening of baseball and connection under a warm summer sky. It was a lot of fun to cheer on our home team, while getting to know one another over a glass of Compris wine! We feel that sports, like music, have an amazing ability to bring people together, even if we may not always be cheering for the same team!

The forecast is calling for perfect wine tasting weather! Join us on our overlook or patio for a relaxing view of the vineyard as it grows towards ripeness, while enjoying our new tasting flight or a glass of your favorite Compris wine.

We're happy and thankful that you're here with us,

~The Compris Crew

A Brand New Release!

We are finally able to “Roll up for the Mystery Tour” in 2023 with the arrival of our Mystery Tour Viognier! After a brief hiatus due to some hungry birds during the 2022 harvest, 2023 brought a pleasant yield to our eleven rows. Grown primarily to co-ferment with our Syrah, we're always thankful when we have extra Viognier grapes to be able to showcase in their own bottle. Each year, our Mystery Tour Viognier gives us a new mystery, as each bottling has a completely different expression depending on the characteristics of the vintage.
This 2023 bottling presents aromas of Grains of Paradise (think hint of black pepper with a citrusy/ginger twist), white pepper, honeysuckle, and jasmine. On the initial sip, it shows great structure and texture that tapers to a refreshing key lime and lemon curd finish. It's "waiting to take you away" on one of these beautiful summer days!

*With only 28 cases produced, this offering will first go to our Compris Wine Club Members. Members, don't delay in securing your bottles by logging into your account or sending us a note! Members, Log In Here

What's in a song?

This month’s music intro is a special call out to a classic song - "Magical Mystery Tour" by The Beatles. This song is all about letting yourself enjoy something new, exciting, and mysterious. While you may not be familiar with exactly what is around the corner (or perhaps the wine just poured in your glass), you can believe that you will be happy and satisfied with the magic it brings. We feel our refreshing and fun 2023 Mystery Tour Viognier is an ideal companion on a summer adventure! Learn More About Our Mystery Tour

Club Members: Stargazing!

We can't wait for Saturday, August 10th, when we will host our club members, the Oregon Museum of Science and History (OMSI) team, and Honey Pie Pizza for an exciting summer evening together under the stars. After dinner, s'mores, and a fantastic presentation by OMSI, we'll take to high-powered telescopes as the stars emerge in the night sky. We should have a crescent moon, Saturn, and the Perseids in our sights if we're lucky!

This wine club exclusive event is sold out, but send us an email to get added to the waitlist in the event of last-minute cancellations. Any members remaining on the waitlist for this year's event will get first dibs on next year's.

Winemaker Dinner at Rosmarino

We are looking forward to our winemaker dinner with Rosmarino's authentic Northern Italian cuisine on Friday, August 16th! Dario's five-course menu will be created thoughtfully to pair with Compris wine. His delicious food and warm hospitality will be plentiful as we talk about each course and wine as the dinner progresses. With only two seatings, at 5pm and 7:30pm, be sure to book your table so you don't miss out on this amazing experience. Rosmarino is a special place for Dru and Erin, as it was during their first visit to this restaurant that they ran into friends who introduced them to the property which would become Compris. Please join us in experiencing a bit of Italy in Newberg! Book Your Spot via Open Table

Upcoming Dates to Note

We're excited to share what's on deck for the Compris Crew! As more information becomes available, we'll update our website, newsletters, and social media. Hope to see you in the coming months!

Our August Cause ~ Education/Sustainability

The Compris team appreciates our vineyard stewards and all of the hard work they do for us throughout the year. This month we are highlighting AHIVOY, a non-profit organization that helps empower and create opportunities for Latinx and Hispanic vineyard workers of the Willamette Valley.

AHIVOY provides education and professional development to help vineyard workers establish careers in the wine industry so that they may overcome socioeconomic challenges and be able to support their families. In partnership with Chemeketa Community College and Linfield University, they’ve created a bilingual English-Spanish immersion program to expand opportunities and knowledge in the wine industry. The Oregon wine community is strengthened by AHIVOY’s mission.

Learn more by visiting their website, Instagram, and Facebook!

For the month of August, Compris Vineyard will be donating one dollar from every bottle sold or glass pour purchased of our As One Pinot noir to AHIVOY. Donate Now!
