A harvest morning sunrise view at Compris Vineyard, with Tempranillo and Pinot Noir vines.

Dear Compris Family and Friends,

Autumn has officially begun! September felt like a true Oregon fall - it began with warm temperatures that soon led into cool days and nights, some with a smattering of rain, and ended with moderate sunny days. The cooler temperatures slowed the progression of the grapes, so our active harvest days were quite spread out as we patiently waited for each block of fruit to be perfectly ready to crush. We were happy to do so, though, as the more time the grapes have on the vine, the more flavors they get to develop, meaning even tastier wine in your glass! The end of the month concluded with a little more warm weather and all of our Pinot noir, Tempranillo, and Chardonnay grapes picked and on their journey to become wine. Now we wait for Syrah!

We're so thankful for our Compris friends and family that drop what they are doing with short notice and take time to help us! We couldn't do it without them. Early mornings bring beautiful sunrises as we prepare for the freshly snipped grapes to arrive to our crushpad. We weigh, sort by hand, and destem into fermenters for our red wine, while the bins for white wine go straight into the press. It's a sticky undertaking, often with interested bees buzzing around, but we all do it with smiles and great conversation as we focus on the tasks at hand. We also couldn't do any of this without our outstanding vineyard crew who arrives in the dark and starts harvesting at first daylight!

While most of the fruit is now tucked safely away in our production space, there's a lot happening behind the scenes. We'd love to show you a peek as time allows when you're up for a visit on one of these beautiful autumn days!

Thank you for being a part of our story!

Satyr Fire at Compris

We’re excited to announce that Satyr Fire will be pouring at our tasting room on Saturday, October 5th! Our friend and winemaker, Paul, will be here to share his delicious wines with our guests. Gathering with friends (and fellow winemakers!) to share the joy of wine is one of the ways we’re choosing to celebrate Come Over October.

Satyr Fire is all about craftsmanship and connection with nature. They mainly focus on making white wines, their two areas of craft are “Myriad”: thoughtfully constructed blends, and “Articulates”: single-vineyard single-variety terroir wines. Winemaker Paul Johnson creates beautiful original artwork for each wine label, and writes a fictional story to accompany every wine.

Join us for this unique opportunity to meet Paul and try his Satyr Fire wines!

Whether you're in your home, a restaurant, a winery, or around a fire pit in the backyard, celebrating time together and reconnecting is the ultimate goal. Our October Cause ~ Animals

The Compris Crew has a very special place in our hearts for animals - both our own and those that need loving homes. This month we support a local shelter dedicated to helping our community's homeless animals.

Homeward Bound Pets Humane Society is Oregon's first no-kill shelter and has been helping cats and dogs in our Yamhill County area for nearly 50 years. Each animal stays with them until they are adopted. In 2023 alone, their small staff and team of volunteers provided 11,000 lifesaving services for cats and dogs including: spay/neuter, shelter, reunited lost pets with their families, administered vaccines and microchips, and issued pet licenses to help ensure lost pets have a better chance of getting back home. This private, 501(c)(3) non-profit is dedicated to improving the lives of cats and dogs through adoptions and community partnerships. They are primarily funded through donations and rely heavily on volunteers to help our community's homeless animals receive the help they need and deserve. In addition to volunteering and donating, opportunities to support these generous folks include visiting their thrift store in person or online, fostering, or by adopting a pet in need.

For the month of October, Compris Vineyard will be donating one dollar from every bottle sold or glass pour purchased of our As One Pinot noir to Homeward Bound. Donate Now!
