Dear Compris Family and Friends,
January brought a mix of rain and, surprisingly, several sunny days at the vineyard. We took full advantage of the dry weather, pruning the Syrah and Cabernet Franc blocks. These later-ripening varietals are pruned earlier than our others to help direct their stored energy to the fruiting canes and initiate growth. The rest of the vineyard will get its trim and tie-down later this month.
Once the pruned canes were flailed—ground up and returned to the rows to decompose—we welcomed some fuzzy new guests. For the first time at Compris, around 40 heritage sheep meandered through the vineyard for about a week. Not only did these cuties brighten the landscape on grey days, but they also helped clear under-vine and in-row weeds, reducing tractor passes and soil compaction. This regenerative practice supports nutrient cycling and soil health, and the soft bleating and gentle ringing of neck bells were welcome sounds indeed.
Back in the cellar, Aaron has been busy preparing for our first bottlings of the year. On deck are our 2024 Chardonnay and Syrah, along with 2025 Sparkling Rosé, Viognier, and White Pinot Noir. Bottling is more than simply filling bottles—these wines have been carefully tended for months, kept topped and developing steadily. Once Aaron determines they’re ready, the wines move from barrel to tank for a brief rest before heading to bottle.
February is shaping up to be a great month for the Compris team. We’re excited to welcome a new addition (meet Danielle below!) and to take part in several fun events, both near and far. Be sure to check out our calendar to learn more.
In the meantime, we’d love to welcome you for a winter visit during our brand-new hours, Friday through Monday. Whether it’s watching the fog drift through the vines or soaking up the warmth of a surprise sunny day, this season has a quiet beauty we enjoy sharing. Our new tasting flight features the final bottles of our 2022 Midnight Journey Syrah and a special pour of our 2021 Mountain Echo Pinot Noir. We have a seat waiting just for you.
Thank you for being here—your presence and support mean so much to us. Dru & Erin

At Compris Vineyard, community begins in the vines and extends far beyond them. Our work is deeply intertwined with the people who care for the land, harvest the fruit, and make this valley what it is. That’s why supporting organizations that uplift and advocate for farmworkers feels not only important, but personal.
For the first quarter of the year, we’re honored to partner with Unidos Bridging Community, a Yamhill County–based nonprofit dedicated to strengthening relationships between Latino and non-Latino communities. Unidos supports farmworker and vineyard worker families through education, leadership development, citizenship assistance, youth programs, and wellness advocacy - building pathways to opportunity while honoring cultural identity and dignity.
Their mission reflects our belief that thriving vineyards depend on thriving people, and that a strong wine community is one where everyone is seen, supported, and valued. From January through March, a portion of proceeds from our As One Pinot Noir will support Unidos’ vital work. Together, we’re investing in connection, equity, and the people who help shape our shared agricultural landscape. DONATE & SUPPORT UNIDOS
