The first signs of bud break at Compris Vineyard in Newberg, Oregon.

Dear Compris Family and Friends,

March was a full and meaningful month for Dru and me. Early in the month, we traveled to Utah and had the opportunity to share our wines there for the very first time. We met so many wonderful people - guests, hosts, volunteers, and fellow wineries alike - and came away feeling incredibly grateful for the experience. Spending time with the National Ability Center and seeing firsthand the impact they have on individuals and families was especially moving. We truly hope to return and continue supporting such an inspiring organization.

Welcoming our club members to the vineyard for our new release and pickup celebration is always a highlight, and we did so at month's end. There’s an added sense of festivity with live music and food, but what means the most is seeing our community come together - connecting, lingering, and building relationships. It’s one of our favorite parts of being here.

Out in the vineyard, pruning of the Pinot Noir wrapped up toward the end of the month - intentionally a bit later than usual. After such a mild winter, delaying pruning can help slow the vines’ early momentum and guide them toward a more typical growing season.

We also planted new baby Pinot Noir vines, replacing those we removed due to poor health. Over the past year, we focused on nourishing and rebuilding the soil to give these young vines the best possible start. Replanting gave us the chance to introduce a new clone - Wädenswil - alongside 667 and 115, which we’ve worked with before. It’s exciting to add another layer to the vineyard and expand the possibilities for Aaron in the cellar. We can’t wait to see what these vines bring in the years ahead.

With the last stretch of beautiful weather, we’re thrilled to share that bud break has officially begun in the vineyard! It’s one of the most energizing times of year - the air filled with birdsong, fresh-cut grass, and those first vibrant signs of new growth. We’d love to have you out to experience it with us and taste through the new releases as the vines step into their next season.

With heartfelt thanks, Dru and Erin

Pouring Purpose Into Every Bottle

At Compris Vineyard, we believe in caring for people, especially children, as deeply as we care for the land. Just as we nurture each vine to reach its full potential, we are committed to supporting the well-being of our community.

From April through June, we are proud to highlight Juliette’s House, an organization devoted to helping children affected by abuse begin their journey to healing.

Based here in Yamhill County, Juliette’s House provides compassionate care, guiding families from fear and uncertainty to safety and hope. Their no-cost services - including clinical care, trauma recovery, abuse prevention education, and advocacy – help children and families rebuild their futures. They also strengthen the community by training those who work with children to prevent, recognize, and respond to abuse and neglect.

This quarter, every bottle of our 2023 Mountain Echo Pinot Noir you enjoy helps support Juliette’s House and their mission to create a safer, brighter future for all. Because, much like in the vineyard, with the right care and support, children can grow, heal, and thrive. DONATE & SUPPORT JULIETTE'S HOUSE
