Wine Description

2023 gave us a slow, even growing season: cool and wet at the start, then classic sunny days and cool nights without extreme heat. That pace preserved acidity while Chardonnay built flavor and texture. Wavelength comes from Star Mooring Vineyard near Newberg, where shallow rocky volcanic soils over fractured basalt naturally emphasize tension and mineral drive. We fermented natively in large format Billon barrels and let the wine go fully through malolactic, then finished élevage with a short stainless chapter to sharpen the outline. It opens flinty and mineral, blooms into honeydew, stone fruit, quince paste, pear blossom, then finishes clean and mouthwatering.

Studio Notes
From the vineyard: Star Mooring Vineyard, Blocks 4 and 10, planted 2015, about 200 feet elevation, Dijon clones 95 and 76, Witzel Ritner soils (shallow rocky volcanic over basalt)
In the cellar: Native fermentation in 3 Billon 600L barrels (1 new, 2 neutral), full malolactic, 11 months barrel on lees with limited stirring, plus 2 months stainless, about 33% new oak
Tech at a glance: Harvest September 7, 2023 (23.6° Brix), 12.7% alc, TA 7.0 g/L, pH 3.35, residual sugar 0 g/L (dry), 220 cases

Naming Inspiration
All I Really Want, Alanis Morissette. Named for the way fruit and acidity meet, steady, balanced, unmistakably in tune.

“Fresh and elegant, with aromas of pears, honeydew melon and a hint of toasted almonds. The palate is medium-bodied and refined, with a creamy texture balanced by zesty citrus and a vibrant, mouthwatering finish. Drink now.”
