Looking Ahead from Dru

I’ve come to look forward to writing my silly little quips on our monthly newsletters. Hoping to conjure up some combination of humor and informative dialogue that captures your interest, answers a question, or perhaps brings a smile to your face. This is my time to exercise the underdeveloped storyteller in me in an effort to let you know what’s going on and possibly give you some insight into this thing residing between my ears. Yes, it is ultimately a short story…

While Decembers are meant for reflection and introspection, Januarys are for looking forward, for hopefulness, for positive change. So, let’s dispense with the resolutions, eyes full of optimism, head brimming with possibilities, heart overflowing with love.

So, what does 2024 have in store for the Compris community? The transition to Compris wines continues to evolve with the full complement of our first vintage, 2021, being released and available beginning at the first of the year. Having recently tasted them all as a team, we are extremely proud and can’t wait to share them with you all! We are adding some cool new events to our calendar as well. Want to know what the process for us is when determining blends? We have a day for that. Anthology member? We’ll have a family barbeque for us to celebrate you (and an opportunity to thank club member, Liz, for the idea!). We’ve added another pillar to our list of monthly charitable contributions to our originals, Diversity and Equality, Animal Welfare, and Education. At the request of Ryan, we will now give to organizations that help kids out. Additionally, at Aaron’s request, we’ll narrow down education to be more sustainability focused. Speaking of sustainability, we will continue our journey towards regenerative farming. Having transitioned from conventional to organic three years ago, our goal to further improve soil health, and ultimately fruit quality, will see significant progress this year. Finally, we are continuing to find ways to help our greater community. With wine donations to, among others, Newberg Animal Shelter, OMSI, Broadway Rose Theatre Company, and Camas Students and Families Foundation, Giving Tree donations to Mabel Rush and Groner elementary schools and our revolving monthly donations, we are committed to growing our engagement with our extended family. There’s so much more in store for the year to come!

Cheers to a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2024!

What's in a song?

This month’s music intro is a call out to one of our wines being released for the first time, Divided Light. We considered the task of making our first white Pinot to be kind of like what a prism does to white light. Only instead of making colors out of white light, we made white wine out of a red wine varietal. We transformed the essence of Pinot noir grapes into a crisp and sophisticated white wine, the way divided light creates a spectrum with subtle variations. Brett Dennen sings of drinking from prism streams so clear in “See the World”. Sipping on our Divided Light is kinda like that…Enjoy!

Upcoming Dates to Note
