A cluster of Syrah grapes ripening on the vine - a unique varietal to be growing in the Chehalem Mountains within the Willamette Valley.

Dear Compris Family and Friends,

It's hard to believe that the summer days are winding down, but it's a sure sign when kids start going back to school, football season is upon us, and harvest is just ahead! Fall is often referred to as the season of change, and, with it being just around the corner, we thought it would be an appropriate time to reflect on some of the recent changes that have happened at Compris!

August was an interesting month for the vineyard with warm days interrupted by several thunderstorms and cooler temps, finishing out with some more warmth. Thankfully, the plants rode out the wild weather without an effect. Mid-month found us at the start of verasion, when the grapes begin to change color and start ripening, which is always an exciting time for us!

If you follow us on social media, you may have seen some fun things happening to the tasting room - namely some new paint indoors and out! Check it out if you have a chance. A fresh new look for the new season, with a couple other updates perhaps in the queue...

We also had a change in our team! Ryan has moved on to a larger winery where he will be able to better utilize his MBA skills and spend weekends with his family. We are incredibly appreciative of everything he did to help Compris. He will certainly be missed, and we are thankful for our continued friendship. We look forward to catching up with him the next time we see him!

Soak up these last beautiful summer days at the vineyard! We have a brand new flight we can't wait to share, and our Adirondacks are ready and waiting.

Thank you for being a part of our story!

A Brand New Release!

We have a newly released collaboration in-house! Our friends at Bauman's Cider, a well-regarded award-winning Oregon cider maker, have co-fermented their delicious apples with our Syrah and Viognier grapes for a refreshing, juicy, fruit forward cider. We have it available in keg to fill your glass or a Compris growler and also in bottle! Try a taste when you're out for a visit, or swing by Bauman's Cider in Portland or Gervais. We're excited to share this gorgeous red cider with you!

What's in a song?

This month we're grooving to The Jackson Five's "Rhythm Child", the namesake of one of our single clone bottlings of Pinot noir. We feel that our 115 Clone Pinot noir is one that leans into the vibrant energy of the clone, providing structure (or rhythm) to the wine/song.

Our Rhythm Child has a captivating nose marked by an aroma of ripe blackberry and black raspberry with a subtle hint of vanilla integrated into the bouquet. The wine unveils its firm and youthful character, showcasing well-defined structure and smooth tannins. Leaving a lasting impression with a pleasant and lingering finish, inviting you to savor the subtle complexities while humming "She's a rhythm child, she'll drive you wild..."!

Club Members: Viognier Reminder!

Our inventory is moving on the 2023 Mystery Tour Viognier, an exclusive club release. If you haven't secured your bottles yet, we recommend doing so soon! Grown primarily to co-ferment with our Syrah, we're always thankful when we have extra Viognier grapes to be able to showcase in their own bottle.
Each year, our Mystery Tour Viognier gives us a new mystery, as each bottling has a completely different expression depending on the characteristics of the vintage. This 2023 bottling presents aromas of Grains of Paradise (think hint of black pepper with a citrusy/ginger twist), white pepper, honeysuckle, and jasmine. On the initial sip, it shows great structure and texture that tapers to a refreshing key lime and lemon curd finish. It's "waiting to take you away" on one of these beautiful summer days!

With only 15 cases left, this offering goes first to our Compris Wine Club Members before being released for all to enjoy. Members, don't delay in securing your bottles by logging into your account or sending us a note! Members, Log In Here
