Fall colors at Compris Vineyard, with nice views of the vineyard, valley floor, and coastal mountain range.

Dear Compris Family and Friends,

October was a fulfilling month for the Compris Crew! The last of our fruit, the Syrah, was picked and tucked away in our production space, safely away from the murmurations of birds that arrived shortly thereafter. Our trees came alive with chattering birds happy to feast on the few grapes left on the vines. Aaron was busy all month, managing fermentations and racking most of the 2024 vintage into barrel. While we only have four harvests to compare at Compris, we must say that this vintage is promising to the be the best yet!

Dru traveled out to North Carolina for the first time to share our wine with several restaurants, wine shops, and wine aficionados in the Charlotte and Triangle areas. Shortly thereafter we welcomed our club family to the vineyard for our fall harvest celebration. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and the warm energy of our members connecting and getting to know one another, with live music in the background and tasty food on their plates.

The vines are at their peak fall hues right now - loads of bright yellow sprinkled with oranges and reds. The contrast of the colors against the emerging green grass in the rows is truly stunning. Come see for yourself and enjoy the beauty of fall season. We'd love to share our brand new tasting flight with you!

Thank you for being a part of our continuing story!

Need a Holiday Wine Recommendation?

If you're in need of a wine recommendation to pair with your Thanksgiving gathering, Dru highly recommends our 2023 Valley Skies Rosé of Tempranillo. This savory, yet bright, rosé goes splendidly with appetizers and sides, but Dru feels the real star pairing is with his herb roasted turkey. It's been on Erin and his Thanksgiving table each year since the first vintage of 2021!

The color of this wine is reminicent of our hillside's sunset skies, painted in a blend of pinks and oranges. It has bright acidity, along with a pleasant freshness, notes of white raspberries, pineapple guava, and a splash of passion fruit. Also, if you need another song for your holiday playlist, choose one of our familiar favorites, which was also the inspiration for the naming of Valley Skies - Foo Fighters' "Long Road to Ruin".

Stock your pantry, wine cellar, or refrigerator with this beautiful wine! While turkey is on our minds right now, it's a nice wine to have on hand for any celebratory gathering or Thursday night.

For the month of November, we are offering complimentary ground shipping on wine purchases of 6 bottles or more! Please allow for adequate shipping time when placing your order. Discount automatically applied at checkout.

TumTum Tree Foundation

Dru and Erin are heading to Birmingham, Alabama to share Compris wine with supporters of the TumTum Tree Foundation's 35th Annual Wine Auction! The TumTum Tree Foundation's mission is to enrich the lives of children in Alabama who face life-altering and life-threatening illnesses. Their annual wine auction, the longest-running in the United States devoted to raising money for children's charities, helps to provide children a beacon of hope, and a respite from their daily challenges. The funds TumTum raises each year benefit over 15 children's charities in Alabama.

If you're in the Birmingham area November 14th, there are just a few spots left for our Vintner Dinner at Luca, where we'll be pouring our wine alongside VGS Chateau Potelle Winery, paired expertly with delicious dishes created by Chef Rita Bernhardt. There's also a rumor that Dru and Erin will be attending their first-ever SEC football game in Tuscaloosa after a fun TumTum Tree Tailgate on the Quad at the University of Alabama! At the Vineyard & In the Wild

Our November Cause ~ Children

The team at Compris enjoys being in nature, whether that’s out in the vineyard or on a hike. We feel it’s important to encourage everyone to get outside and appreciate and care for our natural spaces. Compris is constantly looking for ways we can better support our land and community by being proactive and making sustainable choices.

Outdoor Education Adventures’ (OEA) misison is to provide equitable opportunites for positive educational experiences in nature. Founded in 2017, this nonprofit believes everyone deserves the opportunity to have positive outdoor experiences. OEA brings kids (and adults) into nature, where they can explore, discover, and become immersed in nature through the programs they offer, such as Nature Preschool, School Programs, and Enrichment Programs. These experiences naturally teach young people about science, expand knowledge of our local world, and inspire more people to take care of our environment. Whether it is climbing trees or squishing toes in the mud, outdoor experiences build confidence, self-assurance, creativity, and connection.
