Dear Compris Family and Friends,
It's amazing how quickly time flies, even when you are intentional with being present in each moment! Just over four years ago, we (Dru and Erin) made the short move to Newberg, Oregon, to become the new stewards in caring for what would become Compris Vineyard.
As we take time to reflect on the journey, we are overcome with gratitude to everyone who has helped us on our path. From Don and Vicki entrusting us to care for this special place they brought to life, to our growing wine club family, to the Willamette Valley community, to our small but mighty team, and everyone in between, we offer our heartfelt thank you. Without all of you, this dream of ours coming to fruition wouldn't have been possible. It's been our privilege to grow a community of people around wine, rooted in authenticity, shared purpose, and a commitment to crafting world-class wines organically and sustainably.
This past month was a shining example of how wine brings people together. We poured our wines alongside thirteen other wineries nearby in support of Linfield University's Center for Wine Education, hosted guests at the tasting room from near and far, brought our wine to the beautiful state of Alabama to help raise funds for children in need, and invited members of our community to join us for an open house gathering at the vineyard.
As the year comes to a close and holidays are celebrated, we plan to take intentional pauses to give thanks for all of the good that unites us all. While the temperatures may be cooler now, we welcome you to come experience the moody vibes within the comfort of our warm indoor space or under our covered patio space with a cozy heater and blanket. We have a new tasting flight out this month, suited just for this season, and we'd love to share it with you.
Thank you for being a part of our journey! ~ Dru and Erin
This month we're tapping our feet to the drumline in The Smashing Pumpkins song "Drum & Fife", the namesake of one of our single clone bottlings of Pinot noir. The Pommard clone is often known for having a bold, firm structure, and, for us, is the baseline of our vineyard's song.
Our 2021 Drum & Fife Pommard Clone Pinot noir greets your nose with fresh, juicy cherries. The first taste reveals the wine's complexity with firm, slightly rustic, tannins that add robust character to the overall experience. A hint of burnt orange peel adds depth and nuance, the sip concluding with a sustained and elegantly structured finish. This wine is sure to leave a lasting impression.
We are featuring the Drum & Fife on our new tasting flight this month! Join us for a taste of this before bringing some home to share with family and friends this holiday season. This wine is also available on our website to come to you! We feel this drumming beat will be a lovely complement to your celebrations. Find Your Drum & Fife!
Come see us at the Little Bird Boutique in downtown Newberg on Friday, December 6th! We'll be pouring our wine while you shop their curated collections of women's apparel, jewelry, accessories, home décor, gifts, and shoes. Support small businesses this season and feel good about getting some holiday shopping checked off your list! Perhaps even go home with a little something for yourself...We'll see you there!
We are thrilled to be participating in the 6 of Clubs Wine Club Share in February! This collaboration with five other local wineries will provide our Compris Club Members with the opportunity to visit our neighbors for some unique perks and new vistas to experience.

Join Compris for a truffle hunt with a real truffle dog team on Thursday, February 6th! Our friends at Black Tie Tours will pick you up from a downtown Newberg location and transport you to their favorite local truffle forest. The truffle team will demonstrate how they work together to unearth the native Oregon truffle. You will learn truffle hunting do's and don’ts, storage and care of truffles, and how to use those delicious little nuggets in your own kitchen. You will even take some home with you! Lunch will be served in a covered area by a master local chef. Weather permitting, they’ll cook the fresh and local fare over a fire on site and incorporate fresh truffles so you can enjoy the tasty delights we just unearthed! Dru and Erin will pour their wines during lunch and tell you all about the process, history and what makes the wines special to them.
Oregon pinot noir and truffles truly are a natural pairing!
We're happy to share what's on the horizon for Compris! As more information becomes available, we'll share via our website, newsletters, and social media.
