New Syrah vinews growing tall at Compris Vineyard in Newberg, Oregon.

Dear Compris Family and Friends,

May came and went ever so quickly! The weather was pleasant and beautiful, with just the right amount of rain showers intermixed. While the vines focused their energy on growing leaves and shoots and developing flower clusters, we focused our energy on caring for the vineyard as a whole.

Early in the month, we put our mason bee pollinators on the vineyard perimeter, where they grew and started working straight away. While grapevines are self-pollinating, pollinators play a vital role in promoting biodiversity within our vineyard ecosystem. The timing was perfect as the meadowfoam, one of our under-vine cover crops, had just come into bloom.

We next tilled carefully selected areas of the vineyard. Some blocks needed relief from soil compaction that happened over time, and other blocks needed to have the soil prepared for new vines that will be planted. The disturbance of the soil allows for roots and nutrients to make their way into the ground more easily. With the earth opened, we finally spread our compost over these areas, where the nutrients will help the vines thrive.

Our small but mighty team also found ourselves sharing Compris wine out and about in Washington, D.C. benefiting the American Heart Association, as well as different spots locally in Tigard and Newberg. It always brings us joy to meet people near and far, sharing stories with great wine.

Come out for a visit this month as the beautiful weather looks to continue! We have two new wine releases on our flight this month - our 2022 Given to Fly Reserve Pinot Noir and 2024 Lovely Days Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir. Both are the perfect wines to share as the summer starts to ramp up and celebrations and gatherings happen. We can't wait to see you!

Thank you for following along on our journey! ~ The Compris Crew

Introducing Our Newest Releases

We’re proud to share our 2022 Reserve Pinot Noir: Given to Fly. This wine rises with clarity and quiet strength—layered aromas of cranberry, tart cherry, and warm spice glide into a palate that’s both expansive and composed. Lifted red fruit gives way to herbal nuance and dusty tannins, carrying a graceful weight from start to finish. Inspired by Pearl Jam’s Given to Fly, this vintage speaks to resilience and lift—power that moves with purpose, not noise. It’s Pinot Noir in full flight. Find Your Given to Fly Here!

Introducing our 2024 Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir: Lovely Days —a wine that leans fully into joy. Crafted from estate-grown Pinot Noir, this wine walks the line between fun and finesse, with a crisp, focused sparkle that elevates every sip. The nose offers white strawberry, citrus blossom, and a trace of crushed stone, while the palate delivers red berries, a touch of cream, and a delicate effervescence that lingers with ease. Named after the track Lovely Day by Bill Withers, this wine is all about real joy: grounded, shared, and worth celebrating. Find Your Lovely Days Here!

At the Vineyard

In the Wild

Pouring Purpose Into Every Bottle

At Compris Vineyard, giving back is part of who we are. Over the past three years, we’ve partnered with a different charitable organization each month to make a meaningful difference. In 2025, we’re taking a fresh approach, dedicating each quarter to one cause, allowing us to deepen our impact across four areas close to our hearts: child welfare, animal welfare, sustainability, and equitable opportunities for farmworkers.

At our winery, we believe in caring for people, especially children, as deeply as we care for the land. Just as we nurture each vine to thrive, we are committed to supporting the well-being of our community. From April through June, we’re proud to support Juliette's House, an organization dedicated to helping children affected by abuse begin their journey to healing.

Based here in Yamhill County, Juliette's House provides compassionate care, guiding families from fear and confusion to safety and hope. Their no-cost services—including clinical care, trauma recovery, abuse prevention education, and advocacy—help children and families rebuild their futures. They also empower the community through education, training those who work with children to prevent, recognize, and respond to abuse and neglect.

This month, every bottle of our Given to Fly Reserve Pinot Noir you enjoy helps support Juliette's House and their mission to create a safer, brighter future for all. Because just like in the vineyard, with the right care and support, children can grow, heal, and thrive. Donate Now!
