Ripening Pinot Noir grape clusters on the vine at Compris Vineyard in Newberg, Oregon.

Dear Compris Family and Friends,

It’s hard to believe that tomorrow we officially kick off our 2025 harvest—but we’re ready! The fruit is at the perfect ripeness for our Lovely Days Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir and Divided Light White Pinot Noir. For these wines, we look for just enough sweetness in the berries and a bright, vibrant acidity. By the end of the day, our first wines of the vintage will be safely in barrel!

Being prepped and ready when the fruit arrives is no small task. Aaron made sure our freshly emptied barrels were buttoned up, while Dru and our friend Lukas cleaned, organized, and prepped the production area down to the last detail. Supplies were refreshed, equipment tested, and perhaps most importantly—snacks were stocked. Dru also reached out to our amazing harvest team of friends and club family to lock in their availability for the month. Thoughtful preparation like this keeps us organized and focused, allowing us to craft wines with elegance and care.

Today, we’re also bottling our very first (and extremely limited) vintage of Gamay—around a dozen cases. Dru and I planted these vines in October 2021 to fill a vacant spot in the vineyard. I’ve always loved Gamay, and it’s important to us to grow and make wines that we personally enjoy drinking and sharing.

August brought hot days with a couple of welcome showers, and ended with comfortable 70–80° weather. In the coming week, we expect to bring in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, followed by Gamay, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah.

The good weather continues, so let’s savor these final days of summer together! This month’s flight features a couple of refreshing cold wines and two new releases sure to delight your palate. Join us and catch a glimpse of harvest in action!

Thanks, as always, for your continued support and friendship.

Two new Pinot Noirs are here and ready to shine!

2022 The Myth Dick's 95 Clone Pinot Noir

Our first-ever release of this storied clone shows roasted cherry, dark chocolate, and dried herbs on the nose. The palate is savory and lithe, with vibrant cherry, smooth tannins, and a lift of acidity. Structured, yet textural - perfect with (or without) your favorite meal. Find The Myth

2023 As One Pinot Noir

Our winemaker Aaron Kendall’s first Pinot noir since joining our team brings together all three soil types and four clones from the estate. The result is lifted red and blue fruit layered with subtle fennel and dusty earth. Vibrant, structured, and full of intention. We like to call it balance with presence. Find Your As One Here

A New Face at Compris

We’re pleased to introduce Otis, our sweet (and vocal) vineyard cat. A gift from some kind-hearted club members who couldn’t keep him, Otis has quickly made himself at home. While he may not have Otis Redding’s legendary voice, he certainly knows how to make himself heard—and he’s also been keeping the vole population in check (current known count: 11!).

You might catch him lounging near the tasting room during your next visit, ready to greet guests with curiosity, charm, and just a hint of mischief. We’re so happy to have him as part of our vineyard family. Thank you, Wheeler family! Book Your Visit & Meet Otis

Upcoming Dates to Note

We're glad to share what's on the horizon for Compris! Keep an eye out for more details via our newsletter, website, and social media.

Pouring Purpose Into Every Bottle

At Compris Vineyard, we believe in caring for people as deeply as we care for the land. Just as our wines begin in the vineyard, so does our continuous commitment to those who tend it. From July through September, we’re honored to support AHIVOY—a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Latinx and Hispanic vineyard stewards here in the Willamette Valley.

With a focus on education, leadership, and professional growth, AHIVOY opens doors for vineyard workers who are often overlooked in the broader wine industry. Their bilingual program, developed in partnership with local colleges, offers coursework in viticulture, wine business, and WSET certification—helping stewards deepen their knowledge and expand their opportunities.

But AHIVOY’s impact goes beyond the classroom. Through mentorship, field experiences, and community connection, they nurture confidence and leadership—breaking down barriers and creating pathways to long-term success in the industry.

This month, every bottle of our Wavelength Estate Chardonnay you enjoy helps support AHIVOY and their mission to uplift the people who are the backbone of Oregon wine. Because when we invest in those who care for the vines, we help the entire wine community grow, thrive, and flourish. Donate Now!
