Wine Description
Given to Fly is a dry, estate-grown, reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir selected from four of the most complete barrels of Block 1. Dark cherry, dark raspberry, cherry blossom, incense cedar, and cocoa unfold across a broad, textured palate before fine-grained tannins carry the wine into a long, lifted finish - depth first, then lift.
Naming Inspiration
Inspired by Pearl Jam's "Given to Fly." The name reflects the way this reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir carries depth without losing lift, broad and grounded at first, then rising through a long, energetic finish.
Studio Notes
- From the Vineyard: Estate Pinot Noir from Block 1 at Compris Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA. Planted in 2000 on volcanic Jory soil at approximately 300 to 500 feet elevation. The reserve blend is 50% Pommard, 25% clone 115, and 25% clone 777. LIVE Certified and farmed with organic and biodynamic principles.
- In the Cellar: The reserve blend was selected from four Block 1 barrels. The fruit was 98% destemmed, wiht 2% retained as whole clusters, and received a three-day cold soak before native fermentation. Twice-daily pumpovers continued through dryness to keep extraction measured. The wine aged for 10 months in French oak, with one of the four barrels new.

Pairs well with: Roast duck, lamb loin, pork tenderloin, wild mushroom pasta, cedar-plank salmon, and aged Comté.
