Wavelength: Chardonnay

$60.00 /750ML

Wine Description

Wavelength is a dry, mineral-driven Oregon Chardonnay with flint, green pear, honeydew, kumquat, quince, and pear blossom. Fresh acidity and a wet-stone core give the wine tension, while lees aging in large-format oak adds texture and quiet breadth through a clean, mouthwatering finish.

Naming Inspiration

Inspired by "All I Really Want" by Alanis Morissette. Wavelength is an Oregon Chardonnay named for the way fruit, acidity, and texture move together, each distinct, but resolving into one clear, balanced line through the finish.

Studio Notes

  • From the Vineyard: Chardonnay from Blocks 4 and 10 at Star Mooring Vineyard near Newberg, planted in 2015 at approximately 200 feet elevation. Dijon clones 95 and 76 grow in shallow, rocky Witzel-Ritner volcanic soils over fractured basalt.
  • In the Cellar: Native fermentation took place in three 600-liter Billon French oak puncheons, one new and two neutral. The wine completed malolactic fermentation and aged for 11 months on lees in oak with limited stirring, followed by two months in stainless steel to preserve freshness and sharpen the final profile.
  • Tech at a Glance: Harvested September 7, 2023, 23.6° Brix, 12.7% alcohol, TA 7.0 g/L, pH 3.35, 0 g/L residual sugar, 220 cases produced

Tasting Notes

Style at a glance: Dry; Fresh acidity; Supple texture; Clean, mineral finish

Aroma: Flint, subtle struck match, honeydew, stone fruit, quince, and pear blossom

Palate: Green pear and kumquat lead into wet stone and a firm mineral line. Lees aging brings subtle texture and breadth, while fresh acidity keeps the wine precise and mouthwatering through the finish.

Pairs well with: Dungeness crab, oysters, grilled halibut, roast chicken, creamy risotto, and alpine-style cheeses.

Open it for: A seafood dinner, a long lunch, or anytime you want Chardonnay with mineral tension and texture rather than weight.

“Fresh and elegant, with aromas of pears, honeydew melon and a hint of toasted almonds. The palate is medium-bodied and refined, with a creamy texture balanced by zesty citrus and a vibrant, mouthwatering finish. Drink now.”
