Dear Compris Family and Friends,
It tends to amaze us how winemaking requires patience and time—while, in contrast, vineyard life moves at an incredible pace. We spotted our first bud break in the Cabernet Franc vines on April 7th, and they've been rapidly growing ever since (the warmer weather certainly helps!). The 2025 vintage is officially underway!
April was a busy month for the Compris crew! Aaron expertly led our enthusiastic guests through the Blending Experience, where they got a behind-the-scenes look at how he chooses which Pinot noir barrels go into two of our flagship wines—Mountain Echo and As One. Each guest stepped into the role of winemaker for the afternoon, tasting wines pulled from different barrels before crafting their own proprietary blend.
Dru and Erin flew down to California to introduce Compris at the Pebble Beach Food & Wine Fest—the spring weather was perfect for the event. Meanwhile, Ella sailed on the Willamette River in Portland for an evening, pouring our wines while the sun set over the city. We also popped away from the vineyard to share our wines in Newberg, McMinnville, Lake Oswego, and Corvallis!
Of course, April wasn’t all about pouring wine—Dru finally got back on his tractor to give the happily growing vineyard grass a long-awaited haircut (he truly misses his "tractor time" during the winter months!).
Come visit our ever-changing vineyard and see the transformation for yourself—it never gets old, and the views somehow keep getting better. This month, our new tasting flight features the just-released 2024 Valley Skies Rosé of Tempranillo, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
We’re truly grateful for your support of our small team. ~ The Compris Crew
We’re honored to share the final vintage of our Valley Skies Rosé of Tempranillo! This 2024 release is a tribute to the vines that made it possible, and a farewell to something truly special.
Our small estate block of Tempranillo, the source of this rosé year after year, has now been retired. A virus called red blotch gradually dimmed its ability to ripen, but in this final vintage, the fruit rose to the occasion—one last flourish, and one to remember.
On the nose, Valley Skies opens with sun-warmed stone fruit—peach and nectarine—lifted by lilac and a trace of guava. The palate is bright and generous, full of ripe melon and a silken, rounded texture. It finishes with a crisp snap of watermelon rind, echoing the last light stretching over the valley.
We farmed this block with care, knowing this harvest might be the last. And in its final act, it gave us a wine full of grace and presence. Inspired by the Foo Fighters' line “the colors change in the valley skies,” this rosé captures the fleeting beauty of a Willamette Valley sunset and the quiet power of letting go.
This is the last Valley Skies we’ll ever make...if it speaks to you, don’t wait—bring a bottle (or two) home before this sunset fades for good. Find Your Valley Skies Here!

At Compris Vineyard, giving back is part of who we are. Over the past three years, we’ve partnered with a different charitable organization each month to make a meaningful difference. In 2025, we’re taking a fresh approach, dedicating each quarter to one cause, allowing us to deepen our impact across four areas close to our hearts: child welfare, animal welfare, sustainability, and equitable opportunities for farmworkers.
At our winery, we believe in caring for people, especially children, as deeply as we care for the land. Just as we nurture each vine to thrive, we are committed to supporting the well-being of our community. From April through June, we’re proud to support Juliette's House, an organization dedicated to helping children affected by abuse begin their journey to healing.
Based here in Yamhill County, Juliette's House provides compassionate care, guiding families from fear and confusion to safety and hope. Their no-cost services—including clinical care, trauma recovery, abuse prevention education, and advocacy—help children and families rebuild their futures. They also empower the community through education, training those who work with children to prevent, recognize, and respond to abuse and neglect.
This month, every bottle of our Melody Maker Pinot Noir you enjoy helps support Juliette's House and their mission to create a safer, brighter future for all. Because just like in the vineyard, with the right care and support, children can grow, heal, and thrive. Donate Now!
