Dear Compris Family and Friends,
June brought plenty of sunshine—and progress—in the vineyard! The vines bloomed with delicate white flowers, signaling pollination and fertilization. Those blooms have now become tiny grape berries—the start of the clusters we’ll harvest this fall. Thankfully, the rain held off until after bloom, sparing the flowers from being disrupted and allowing for a solid fruit set.
The vines also got their first haircut of the season last week—a fresh hedging to rein in the unruly shoots. This canopy management step helps keep the growth in check, improves airflow, and ensures the fruit and leaves don’t get too shaded. All of it plays a role in helping us grow healthy, flavorful grapes.
It was a lovely and lively month in the tasting room, too. We had the chance to connect with so many of you—whether here at the vineyard or out and about—and we’re excited for what July brings. The vines will keep stretching, and we’re gearing up for one of our favorite annual traditions: our 5th club member stargazing night! It’s always a magical evening under a new sky.
If you haven’t visited in a while, July is a great time. We're pouring two wines we haven’t yet featured on a flight—our 2022 Rhythm Child and 2022 Drum & Fife Pinot Noirs. No need to pick a favorite—just come enjoy both!
As always, thank you for supporting our small vineyard and the big passion behind it.
~ The Compris Crew
Smooth, warm, and a little unruly—Rhythm Child moves with purpose. Notes of baking spice, red plum, and cherry cola lead the way, supported by juicy berries and a subtle flicker of graphite. The texture is rounded and structured, making it both comforting and confidently bold. Find Your Rhythm Child Here
Our Drum & Fife marches to its own beat—lively, layered, and expressive. This vintage opens with vibrant red fruit and a lift of citrus zest, grounded by earthy undertones and a hint of spice. It’s a Pinot that plays with rhythm and energy, striking a balance between elegance and verve. Find Your Drum & Fife Here

At Compris Vineyard, we believe in caring for people as deeply as we care for the land. Just as our wines begin in the vineyard, so does our continuous commitment to those who tend it. From July through September, we’re honored to support AHIVOY—a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Latinx and Hispanic vineyard stewards here in the Willamette Valley.
With a focus on education, leadership, and professional growth, AHIVOY opens doors for vineyard workers who are often overlooked in the broader wine industry. Their bilingual program, developed in partnership with local colleges, offers coursework in viticulture, wine business, and WSET certification—helping stewards deepen their knowledge and expand their opportunities.
But AHIVOY’s impact goes beyond the classroom. Through mentorship, field experiences, and community connection, they nurture confidence and leadership—breaking down barriers and creating pathways to long-term success in the industry.
This month, every bottle of our Wavelength Estate Chardonnay you enjoy helps support AHIVOY and their mission to uplift the people who are the backbone of Oregon wine. Because when we invest in those who care for the vines, we help the entire wine community grow, thrive, and flourish. Donate Now!
Warm and focused, this wine delivers red berries, spice, and smooth structure with a steady, confident rhythm.
